People have long build artificial dam to force the river to turn the turbines and produce energy. British project envisages construction of a dam that will block not riverbed and marine lagoon, which will cause tidal waves to generate electricity. 
Swansea Bay in Wales - a unique place where at high tide the sea level rises by 8.5 meters. Huge masses of water move regularly, but still useless. 
The authors of the project propose to close the lagoon dam and send the whole mass of water in one bottleneck. There will be located electric turbines with a total capacity of 320 MW, capable of providing energy to 155,000 households.

Currently, "electric" lagoon is considered as an infrastructure project of national importance. It is expected that at the beginning of 2015 the project will be given the necessary licenses for the design and conduct of marine operations.
